Jacican's Story

Wild Game Dinner is coming up on Saturday 10th June and we are currently taking bookings from 2 to 18 people. Six courses of locally sourced Game meats.

Jacican is your bespoke food experience, a place to learn, share and eat. Join me from 9am - 5pm Friday, Saturday or Sundays for lunch or high tea.

Jacican can host your small private dinner, family get together or work function. I can also tailor make a private class, meal or corporate training event to you or your organisations needs.

Adult cooking classes will take your cooking to the next level. Whether it’s the secret of the perfect macaron, cream torte or even handmade lollies, I can be your guide. I’ll even teach your littlies during my school holiday Kids in the Kitchen classes.

I'm inviting you to attend my annual Mother's Day all day High Tea, which includes my special Black Forest Cake and Lemon Meringue Tart and to enjoy the country surrounds in my extensive kitchen garden.

I use all local Gippsland produce in my menu, this afternoon tea includes fresh autumn vegetable frittata, chicken and leek tart, ribbon sandwiches, berry cream dome, macarons, flourless black forest cake, fruit tarts, handmade chocolates, lemon meringue tart and, of course, scones with jam and cream. I cater for all dietary requirements so no one is left out.

A highlight this year of the high tea is my special Lemon Meringue Tart and I would like to share my Lemon Curd Recipe with you, its simple to make for the home cook and has an amazing lemon flavour:

 

Lemon Curd Recipe:

Ingredients:

3 fresh lemons (juice and zest)
150gms cream
195gms caster sugar
4 eggs plus
1 large egg yolk

Method:

1. Place all the filling ingredients in a bowl and mix.
2. Place the bowl over bain-marie heat until temperature reaches 85 degrees celsuis

3. Strain through a fine sieve.

4. Cover with plastic wrap on surface of curd.
5. Chill.

Show mum how special she is by taking her out for High Tea at Jacican Food Studio. Bookings are available from 10am to 6pm.

Cost $42.00 per person with the glass of Pink Fizz, $36.00 without, all inclusive. The menu can be adapted to dietary needs.
After you've enjoyed your High Tea with mum, why not take her to the Mirboo North Art Show, which is held annually here in Mirboo North on Mother's Day weekend. It's located within easy walking distance of Jacican and open from 10am - 5pm.
